I was born in 1956 in Weimar and studied mathematics at TH Karl-Marx-Stadt in the years 1976-1981. I obtained the following degrees from TU Chemnitz: 1981 Dipl.-Math., 1985 Dr.rer.nat., 1991 Dr.rer.nat.habil. Additional studies: 1982 Byelorussian State University, 1988 Leningrad State University, 1995 University Karlsruhe
